Contract for the design of a Shrimp RAS including hatchery!

Shrimp, especially the "White Tiger" shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei are among the most promising species for closed Recirculating Aquaculture System farming in Europe. Shrimps are a worldwide desired food, so also in Europe. Since the water temperatures in Europe do not meet the requirements of the most popular shrimp species, they are imported from Asia and South America in frozen condition. Thus, the long delivery routes are only one reason to grow shrimp in Europe. Anyone who has ever eaten fresh shrimp will confirm that the quality and taste of fresh or frozen shrimp is far superior to that of imported shrimp.


White Tiger Shrimp are especially suited for farming in RAS

White Tiger Shrimp are particularly suitable for aquaculture in closed Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). They have a short generation cycle, which allows production to be evenly distributed throughout the year. Furthermore, the animals spawn almost daily, so that the system can be stocked frequently, making it relatively small compared to annual production. The reproduction of the animals is costly, but standardized, so that the reproduction of shrimp in hatcheries is possible in Europe.
After design and construction of successful Recirculating Aquaculture Systems in France and Germany and a project under construction in China, we are particularly pleased with our new order today.

The farm will have its own hatchery and therefore be indipendent of PL imports WATER proved

WATER - proved GmbH has today been awarded the contract for the design of several Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) for the breeding and propagation of shrimps. In the final stage of expansion, the plant complex will have a production capacity of 2,500 ... 3,000 tons per year. The expansion is planned in four stages. From day one, only post larvae from own propagation will be used. The hatchery, which is part of the design, thus includes all areas from broodstock over all larval stages to the provision of natural food and the company's own algae production. 
In addition to our well-known and proven components for water treatment in the Recirculating Aquaculture System, such as drum filters, moving bed filters, denitrification, disinfection and oxygenation, a sludge thickening system and an effluent water treatment system are used. The innovative tank concept provides optimal living conditions for the animals and easy management of the system.
